To recognize your unique gifts and share them with the world is to find your purpose, or dharma.
Everyone’s purpose is to help humanity in some way, this is why so many people say they “just want to help people”. A purpose gives rise to a vision and then a mission. The mission is fulfilled by strategically using your gifts to do the thing.
In Hinduism, this is called Dharma and is the first step on the spiritual path.
Step two is charging for them (Artha) After that you’ve achieved the level of “good householder” and can access the advanced teachings of desire (Kama) and liberation (Moksha). You can’t skip the line.

Life is divided in two sections: before purpose, and after purpose. Before purpose, life feels mostly accidental and chaotic, with no agency and no meaning. The right people aren’t able to find you, so your social life feels like shallow quantity without any real depth. You can’t be satisfied, because you’re not doing what you came here to do.
If you are aligned with your purpose, your life has meaning. You are constantly burning up about what it is that you are creating and how to improve it. You are passionate. You are never “done”. You’re not trying to work so you never have to work again. You are LIT up. If you weren’t allowed to do this, you would die.
If you are living your purpose, everything you need to execute on it better belongs to you, but you must strategize how to use your gifts to claim the benefits. It’s a constant game, that challenges you the way a best friend or a spouse will.

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?
the problem isn’t what you think it is:
You probably already have your purpose you just don’t do anything with it, because you need a vision and a mission as well. Everyone’s purpose is “help the world with my unique gifts” , and it’s not for us to judge what others define as help.
You’re not doing anything with it because you’re hoping a no-cringe option will come around and you can debut your perfected self while having everyone like and support you. You are hoping this because you’ve judged so many people as cringe during their trial and error, when the real cringe is not doing anything out of fear of trial and error.
The real work is overcoming your fear of failure AND success, your jealousy and judgment issues, and releasing the educational trauma that makes you afraid to explore and play in the unknown.
If you were not taught how to recognize and share your unique gifts, the educational system has failed you and you need to be unschooled aka taught how to teach yourself the things you need to be truly great.

Undoubtedly. If you’re doing anything it will work its way into your purpose. My “wasted time” bartending was the best coaching training I ever received, it just didn’t seem that way to me before I aligned with my purpose. My unique gifts of being a chatty Cathy who can talk to anyone (thanks to being forced to accost strangers with cult generated endtime propaganda as a child) made me a great bartender and a great coach.
What matters is, does what you do make you feel ALIVE? Or are you triggered when people ask what else you do? Some people need a hard pivot, some people just need to be able to write their erotica bestsellers in secret on the side of their suity-suit-suit career. Also, how long are you willing to stay so unsatisfied?

First of all at my school we never leave money on the table if it can be helped. So far I have told one person to quit their job, and I’ve coached thousands. If you’re great at what you do, and AI cannot replace you, it is your purpose.
A favorite teacher of mine (Michael Singer) longed to be a full time ascetic, but computer programming made perfect sense to him. He reluctantly built a $4B medical software company while running a meditation temple that he didn’t ever want to leave.
That’s full-spectrum purpose right there.
He says:
“Put aside your preferences, recognize what the Universe is asking of you, and grow.”
Your problem is judging the assignment, and missing the beauty in it. You also might need a side career that tickles you and brings you to life.

That’s because you have educational trauma and are afraid of letting people down. Your fear of wading through the mud of doing things you don’t want (school) to please people who don’t trust your judgment all over again for a new career is too gruesome to bear.

That’s because school teaches you how to do things not how to succeed. They never ask you what success means to you, and it you’re too busy cramming your head with unnecessary things to step back and ask why you’re fast tracking yourself towards a “good job” when the life that comes with it is absolutely not what you want.
Traditional school trains you and grades you, on purpose, to be mediocre at everything and great at nothing. That’s because society has a lot of mediocre jobs that need doing, and great geniuses won’t do them. AI is rapidly catching up to those mediocre jobs, what now?
I feel you on this, though. I went to culinary school because I was pressured to go to school for something by people willing to fund it if I acted fast. I really enjoyed it (eating all day), but I wanted to be Anthony Bourdain. You don’t go to cooking school to be Anthony Bourdain. He was a famous writer, not a famous cook. I’m sure food will work it’s way in some day, but it’s been twenty years and nothing so far, lol.
I didn’t let my fear of “wasting” money on education stop me from pursuing more. Culinary turned to yoga, turned to nutrition school, and turned into my current career. One vision, one mission at a time, all from purpose.

That’s because you are studying fashion instead of studying sales. Studying art instead of marketing.
You were never taught how to correctly self educate. You were absolutely brainwashed into believing everything takes four years of eight hour school days. Natural learning takes hardly any time, and involves select mentors. It involves trusting your interests, falling in rabbit holes, and becoming obsessive about things no one notices in your front of house, like sales.
Magic is just spending more time on something than anyone else would reasonably expect.
Purpose involves tapping the conscious and unconscious gifts, but none of them arrive fully formed. They have to be cultivated by skilled hands in an environment with plenty of space for exploration and play. This is the opposite of school.

An interior designer having a major moment right now was doing everything from medical school to scuba diving. She traveled the world searching for her purpose.

You should be! The market honors the great, not the good, and yes we are all equal but not in the marketplace. Nothing will be handed to you. You’ll have to work and it will take two years to become profitable if you work very hard at the one thing once you find it.

NOT HARD, unless your entire life was spent being forced to do the opposite.
